Safety Tips for Summer Weather: Heat, Drought and Lightning

It’s summertime, but regardless of the famous song lyric, the livin’ isn’t necessarily all that easy—especially in our part of the country. The hot Texas sun brings possibilities of heat-related health problems, the lack of rain leads to drought conditions, and the summer storms spawned by the turbulent mix of hot air with cooler air brings the threat of dangerous lightning strikes.

The Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management has forwarded to us some information about all three of these summertime hazards, and they contain some good safety tips. Please take a look at them – even if you think you know all you need to about heat, lightning and drought, you just might learn something new that will be helpful – maybe even lifesaving.
