Adult Craft Workshops at FBCL

Discover a new hobby, or share ideas with other crafty folks at one of Fort Bend County Libraries’ craft workshops! Three of our libraries will present introductory classes in September for individuals who would like to learn more about jewelry-making, mason-jar crafting, or crocheting.

Materials for these programs are made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Library organizations. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the library.

Samples of the library’s instructional books, magazines, and websites on various crafts will be available.

For more information, call the branch library or the library system’s Communications Office (281-633-4734).

In September, these libraries have special activities planned for craft enthusiasts:

Jewelry-Making
Mamie George Branch Library, Stafford – Wednesday, Sept 25, 10:00 to 11:00 am.

Learn how to make custom jewelry with pendants printed on the 3D printer! An assortment of beads and decorative accessories will also be available to create a necklace or bracelet that will impress your friends and loved ones. This family-friendly event is open to all ages. Registration required; click here to register.

Craft Squad: Mason-Jar Craft
University Branch Library – Wednesday, Sept 25, 7:00 pm.

People who enjoy crafts are invited to join the Craft Squad, where they can make new crafty friends, learn a new craft or two, and share tips, tricks, and resources with fellow crafters. The Craft Squad will meet quarterly at the library through December. Each meeting will have a different craft theme, and badges can be earned for each new craft that is learned. In September, earn the “Mason Jar” badge by decorating and re-purposing mason jars. Feel free to share your past experiences with this fun craft – the good, the bad, and the not-so-pretty! Registration required; click here to register.

Crochet Workshop: 7 Essential Stitches
Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library – Saturday, Sept 28, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

In this hands-on adult craft class for individuals aged 16 and above, library staff member Marie Picon will review the seven essential crochet stitches, starting with the simplest and working up to the more challenging stitches. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners with no experience, as well as for experienced crocheters who would like a refresher. No previous experience is required.
