Commemorative Coins for 50th Anniversary of First Lunar Landing on Display at First Colony Branch Library

In observance of National Coin Week, April 21-27, the First Colony Branch Library is embracing the American Numismatic Association’s 2019 theme of “Discover the Past, Envision the Future” with an exhibit by local coin collector Dr. Ralph Ross throughout the month of April.

A long-time resident of Sugar Land, Dr. Ross will display his collection of coins commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, and mankind’s first steps on the moon.

Dr. Ross began collecting coins when he was four years old, more than 60 years ago. “Collecting coins, paper money, and other numismatic objects has always been one of our country’s most beloved and popular pastimes,” says Dr. Ross. “I find coins everywhere. The Kennedy half dollar is my favorite!”

The exhibit may be viewed in the lobby of the library during regular business hours. For more information, please call the First Colony Branch Library at 281-238-2800 or the library system’s Communications Office at 281-633-4734.
