Guest Violinist to Perform at Library’s Musical Story Time Event
The Youth Services department at George Memorial Library in Richmond will feature a special guest violinist from the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra for Story Time on Saturday, March 30, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library.
Violinist Aimee Petersen and her daughter McKenna will provide musical accompaniment to the story The Dance of the Violin, written by Kathy Stinson. After the story, Petersen will talk about violins and how she became a musician. Music-themed crafts and activities are also planned for the event, which is intended for families with children of all ages.
Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra to Perform Family Concert at Library’s Jodie E. Stavinoha Amphitheater
Fort Bend County Libraries will present a free family concert performance, “Teddy Bear’s Picnic,” by the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 2:00 pm, in the Jodie E. Stavinoha Amphitheater at George Memorial Library in Richmond.
The performance will include fun, call-and-response interaction between the orchestra and the audience that will have everyone clapping and dancing along with the music. Families with children of all ages are welcome to attend.
Musical selections include a variety of whimsical pieces, from The Pink Panther and The Greatest Showman to The Waltzing Cat and Baby Shark! This is an entertaining, family activity – and a great way to foster a young child’s love of music.
After the performance, children are invited to get an up-close look and learn more about the different instruments during an instrument “petting zoo” in the Bohachevsky Gallery inside the library.
Guided by Music Director Dominique Røyem, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra (FBSO) and Chorus has been serving the communities of Fort Bend County for more than 25 years. FBSO is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that supports local community musicians and artists.
The performance will be presented in an outdoor amphitheater, and seating is concrete. Theater-goers are encouraged to bring cushions to sit on. Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, and popcorn are not allowed in the amphitheater.
