Friends of the Library – September Book Sales

People who love books, people who love bargains, and people who need to get rid of some spare change will find a lot in common at the Friends of the Libraries’ Fall Book Sales, where they will discover adult and children’s books, magazines, DVDs, and much more -- all at prices that are hard to beat!

The Friends of the University Branch Library will host a Fall Book Sale on Saturday, September 14, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, in Meeting Room 1 of the library. A large selection of Chinese-language books are available at this sale!

The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will have their Fall Book Sale on Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Annex next door to the library. In conjunction with the Book Sale, the library will also have a Teddy-Bear Picnic beginning at 9:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Children may bring a blanket and a favorite stuffed toy for this special Story Time picnic, where they will enjoy Teddy-Bear stories, games, and snacks!

The Friends of the Missouri City Branch Library will have a Fall Book Sale as part of their Open House on Saturday, September 14, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. Take a tour of the recently renovated library, and enjoy some fun craft activities, too!

The Friends of the Albert George Branch Library will host a Fall Book Sale on Friday September 20, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the library.

Donations of used books, DVDs, and CDs are always welcome, and may be taken to the libraries during regular business hours. All contributions are tax-deductible. Click here for a list of what we can accept and not accept.

The Friends organizations are instrumental in funding library programs such as the children’s Summer Reading Club. Proceeds from the book sales and annual membership dues also help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the libraries.
