Searching for a job can be difficult and stressful. Fort Bend County Libraries offers a variety of job-hunting and career-assistance tools and resources that are available online and can be accessed 24/7 with an FBCL library card from the comfort of home. These free resources can help job seekers create a better resumé, improve their job skills, research job opportunities and careers, and much more.
FBCL librarians have created some how-to videos that demonstrate how to use these resources. These videos, as well as many other helpful online tutorials, are available on FBCL’s YouTube channel. A library card is not required to view these video tutorials.
These video tutorials are examples of just a few of FBCL’s online resources that are available for job-hunters or anyone wanting to research companies or careers. Click on our databases tab, then select “Career & Job Help” on the left-hand tool bar, and click “apply.” This will limit your results to those databases specifically helpful for job hunters.
Librarian assistance is also available by phone, email, or online chat.

PROGRAMS / PRESENTATIONS

Job-Search Support Group – Tuesdays, June 22 and July 27, 2:00 pm.
This program will be live-streamed via Webex; it will NOT be in person. In this online forum, job hunters will have an opportunity to network with other people, exchange tips and leads, or simply vent their frustrations with others in the same position. Library staff will share helpful online resources that can be accessed through the FBCL website. Reservations are required; a link to the Webex session will be emailed to all who register. FBCL – Virtual Computer Tutorials
FBCL has a variety of online tutorials to introduce people to various aspects of computer use and technology. Tutorials include instruction on basic computer use, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and much more.
FortBendJobs.com is an online job-board serving the employers and job seekers of Fort Bend County, Sugar Land, and surrounding areas. Job seekers may search jobs for free.
Job-Search Survival Workshop – July 12 and 13, from 5:40 to 8:30 pm.
Sugar Creek Baptist Church offers a monthly workshop for job hunters. Different topics are discussed each night. This workshop will be live-streamed via Zoom; it will NOT be in person. The workshop is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
