Back-to-School Resources

Regardless of what the new school year will look like -- in-person, virtual, or some other alternative --  homework assignments will begin to accumulate soon, and students and parents alike will be looking for help. Don’t fret – the library is here to assist! We have many, many online resources that are available from the comfort and safety of home! Curbside Pick-Up Service continues to be available at all locations, so you may request items at any location for contact-free curbside pick-up.

Brainfuse Homework Help
With a library card, students can access live online tutoring help through Brainfuse, including homework tutoring, writing assistance, FAFSA assistance, and more.

Mobile Hotspots
Fort Bend County residents with a standard, full-service library card can check out mobile WiFi hotspots by calling their local branch. Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Practice Tests
Students with a library card can access our many databases, including LearningExpress Library, to study and practice for the SAT, ACT, STAAR, and more.

Youth Databases
Students with a library card can access these youth databases that include Khan Academy (video tutorials for math, science, history, and more), TumbleMath (animated books and practice questions), World Book (reference resources, science projects, and life skills), CultureGrams (geography resources), and more.

eCards & Full-Service FBCL Library Cards
Fort Bend County residents that do not currently have a full-service library card may apply for an eCard, which will give them access to online resources including Brainfuse, online databases, eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, downloadable music, streaming movies, and more. An eCard cannot be used to check out physical materials.

A full-service FBCL library card is free for Texas residents. With this card, you may use the Books & More Curbside Pick-Up Service to check out physical library materials, as well as access digital online resources of the library. Electronic resources, such as mobile WiFi hotspots, are available for check out to Fort Bend County residents only.

Virtual Computer Classes
Students and parents looking to improve their computer skills can watch one of our many video tutorials created by library staff.

Virtual Reference
You can call or email our librarians with reference questions. Or you can chat with a librarian 24/7 using the free Chat-with-a-Librarian service!
