Shopping for a Holiday Gift? Donate to the Library in Someone’s Name!

November 2024

The holidays are fast approaching and finding gifts for family members, friends, business associates, teachers, coaches, babysitters, etc., can seem overwhelming and never-ending.  Fort Bend County Libraries is a resource that can provide a unique gift-giving solution – make a donation to the library to be used for a book in someone’s name!

Donating money toward a book for the library in someone’s name is a thoughtful gift that honors the person in whose name the purchase is made and also benefits your Fort Bend County Libraries and the community for years to come.

Whether requesting a $25 children’s book, a $35 adult book, a $95 reference book, or audiovisual and electronic materials like CDs, DVDs, ebooks, or recorded books (all ranging in price from $20 to $50), a variety of options are available that will fit your price range. Donations of any amount can also be designated for adult programs, for youth programs, or for a specific collection, such as that in the Genealogy and Local History department

Donations can be done in person at any of our libraries, or they can be submitted by mail. To make a donation in person, just ask the librarian at your local branch for a book-donation form or download one here. Donations made with checks can be mailed, along with the completed donation form, to the Business Office at Fort Bend County Libraries, 1003 Golfview, Richmond, Texas, 77469. Donations made in person should be cash or check only; credit cards cannot be accepted.

Once the item is in the library’s collection, a bookplate -- including the name of your recipient -- will be placed in the book in recognition of the person in whose name you made the donation.

The donor may also request to have an acknowledgement card sent on his or her behalf to the person or family for whom the gift is being made. The library will need the address of the honoree or family for this option.

All donations are tax-deductible. For more information, call the library system’s Communications Office at 281-633-4734, or any branch library.

Happy holidays and thank you for supporting the library!
