Yoga Demonstrations at Libraries

Did you resolve to turn over a new leaf in the New Year by making healthier living choices? Learn how to take better care of yourself mentally and physically with yoga!

Fort Bend County Libraries will have yoga demonstrations at two locations in January. Learn how training your mind and body to relax can improve your physical and mental well-being. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and to bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.

The programs are free and open to the public.

 

  • Yoga Demonstration at Albert George Branch Library, Needville

The Albert George Branch Library in Needville will present an introductory class, “Yoga for All Levels,” on Saturdays, January 5 and 12, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library.

Yoga instructor Christine Sewell will present a basic introduction and demonstration of this low-impact form of physical exercise and meditation. Learn the benefits of yoga, the various yoga postures, and the correct way to breathe to receive maximum benefit.

  • Yoga Demonstration at Cinco Ranch Branch Library

The Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a special introductory program, “Finding Calm Through Yoga,” on Saturday, January 12, beginning at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library.

Registered yoga instructor Ashley Schmidt will present a basic introduction and demonstration of this low-impact form of physical exercise and meditation. Learn the benefits of yoga, the various yoga postures, and the correct way to breathe to receive maximum benefit.

“Yoga allows us to connect our physical, mental, emotional, and energetic bodies so that we feel grounded and calm as we move through our day,” says Schmidt, who teaches yoga in Richmond and has logged 200 hours as a registered yoga instructor.

All experience levels are welcome to attend. The program will be modified based on the experience levels of those in attendance.

Registration is not required for this program.
