Gale eBooks Virtual Reference Library FAQ

Gale eBooks is a database of authoritative nonfiction eBooks. Gale eBook offers encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research that are all full-text and always available. You can access Gale eBooks anytime from the library's eLibrary page---look under "Books, eLibrary & More." If you are not in a library building, you will need to enter your library card number for access.

Use the Basic search for a general keyword search or pull down to search by subject, publication (title of book), or to search entire document (all text). You can perform an even more powerful search by clicking "Advanced Search" next to the search bar. Click on "More" to find the "Title List" which will display all of the titles in Fort Bend County Libraries' Gale eBooks Virtual Reference Library.

Gale eBooks are always available for most computers, laptops, or mobile devices with an active Internet connection. Click on the title of your search result to view the html version of the full text in your browser. Click on "Listen" to have the text read aloud to you. Alternatively, click on View eBook to see the PDF version of your selection. An active Internet connection and web browser is required to download the PDF (see the Download tool on the right side of your screen) but the downloaded version can be read later, even when offline. You may keep downloaded PDFs indefinitely, and they may be emailed (for example to your @kindle.com address) or printed.

Use the citation tool provided on the right side of your result page to create the full citation in MLA, APA or Chicago citation format.
