An Update From the Director - Sept 2020

Clara Russell, Library Director

September 8, 2020

Dear Library Patrons,

Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) has begun the process of making plans to reopen libraries and resume services in carefully thought-out phases. Decisions about proceeding forward into the next phase will depend on various factors, always with safety for everyone as our main priority.

Until we can proceed to the next phase and reopen safely, we are expanding our current services for library users. We are happy to announce these new changes:

•    Library users can apply for, or renew, library cards with an easy-to-use online application. You can also update your address or get a replacement for a lost card through this application. This online application for a full-service library card will enable users to check out physical materials as well as digital materials! Physical materials (books, DVDs, CDs) can be checked out and picked up through our Books & More Curbside Pick-Up service.

•    The limit of items that can be checked out on a full-service library card has been increased from 10 to 20!

•    We now offer Book Bundles! Each Book Bundle consists of 5 items selected by our staff. You pick a category, and we’ll surprise you with some selections we think you might like! There is a limit of 3 Book Bundles per library card, but guess what – a Book Bundle does NOT count toward your 20-item limit!

•    Check out mobile WiFi hotspots.(we were able to get more!)

•    Please feel free to call or email our librarians for assistance with homework/research questions.

•    Let us know if you want a Voter Registration card – we’ll include it when you pick up the items you’ve checked out.

Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate these trying times. Continue checking back for more updates!
